PreviewCast on the Tech Podcast Network!

I’m excited to announce that PreviewCast has been accepted as a part of the Tech Podcast Network! The Tech Podcast Network is a rather exclusive site which promotes various podcasts and podcasters reporting from all sides of the tech realm. I’m really excited about the show’s acceptance. For now, it will mean a little bit more exposure and promotion, but hopefully we’ll have some additional announcements related to them coming soon! In the meantime, check them out to discover some other cool shows from the world of tech.

Incidentally, I know that some are asking about when PreviewCast #043 will show up. Well, we’re not sure. We were all busy this past weekend, I’m not sure about next weekend, oh and by the way, I’ll be in school in about 10 hours. We may end up taking a short hiatus for a little bit, but we hope to have a new PreviewCast on its way to your podcatchers soon. :)

PreviewCast #042: The Macworld That Should Have Been

Apple held another Steve Jobs Special Event today, but this time, it wasn’t about music. It was about the Mac. Yeah, that computer thing that Apple used to market the heck out of, remember it? We spent the morning refreshing liveblogs like mad, mostly because MacRumors wasn’t invited to the keynote to do their auto-refreshing live updater, and then Douglas simply grabbed as many PreviewCasters as he could to hold off from rampaging around Apple.com to record a heck of a good show.

Apple releases new iMacs, and a pretty lame advertisement to go with them, which feature a new (but not revolutionary new) design and new specs. They also refreshed the Mac mini lineup with Core 2 Duo processors, making this the first time in Apple history that their entire computer lineup is all 64-bit. We marvel at the new stuff in the iMac, and also examine the new thinner MacBook-style keyboards that accompany it, and ask ourselves why the wired keyboard is full-size but the wireless keyboard isn’t? Strange. Apple’s iLife ‘08 contains a major update to iPhoto, a completely new application to don the iMovie name, and the rest of the apps get a minor update. (Douglas is upset that there’s no new podcasting features.) .Mac only gets updated to 10 GB of storage and gets a Web Gallery feature, and Apple still is asking for the ripoff price of $100/year. And Apple matures iWork ‘08 to the point that it’s now a pretty darn good competitor to Microsoft Office, and most of us are looking forward to getting our hands on it. Plus, a look at what we were hoping for that wasn’t announced, Ara makes a stupid mistake, and an interesting discussion about spirits and psychics…

All this and plenty more on this informative and entertaining special episode of PreviewCast!
