PreviewCast #031: Googleplexed

It’s solo amateur season at PreviewCast! This week, Douglas cranks out a solo episode where he talks about a whole bunch of stuff that’s been happening in his life. And next week, Larry will crank out, well, I guess we’ll find out.

A security conference contests bribes someone to successfully hack into a Mac, so I guess Firefox WAS a good idea after all. The MacArthur Maze wasn’t a good idea though, especially at 3000˚F. Apple launches a new Support site, and it appears that the Mac isn’t a supported product. BareFeats.com rates the performance of the 8-core Mac Pro next to the 4-core–how about they get some deodorant for their bare feets? iQuiz has exploded in the iPod world, and not only because it’s actually worth its price, and Douglas does a quick review of QuickSnap. Finally, the longest PreviewCasted review ever as Douglas’ excitedly reviews his BRAND NEW MacBook, and a full recap of his trip to the Googleplex. It was awesome, but there’s a good reason why they didn’t have pizza there.

This is just some of the googelplex of reasons to listen to this episode of PreviewCast!

PreviewCast #030: The Uniface of Big Business

This show is full of unimportant news that no one really cares about. Which is probably why no one really cares about this episode. That won’t stop Mitchell from making his triumphant return with lots of, erm, interesting sound effects.

Apple delays Leopard until October, and this makes Douglas mad that Apple dedicated their resources to the iPhone, but Mitchell and Robert think it was a smart move. At the same time, a survey says high schoolers will plunk down $500 for iPhone, despite only 25% of those surveyed saying that they plan to buy one. Never jump into a pile of leaves with a wet sucker, especially when Douglas is sucking Creme Savers. Hot off the MacRumors Live! presses, Apple makes some big NAB announcements that we don’t really care about. The latest Leopard seed introduces the new Unified Interface, or the “Uniface,” as Douglas accidentally calls it. “>Apple and EMI announce higher-quality DRM-free downloads! Way to go! However, that iPod didn’t really save the soldier’s life; it just got shot. Apple has new Get a Mac ads and an Apple TV ad, Google introduces its own free 411 service, and Douglas’ iBook finally quacks up after almost 7 years. Oh, and you think Douglas’ jokes are bad? Not until you’ve heard the German Joke of the Day

All this and not much more on this Patriot’s Tax Day episode of PreviewCast!

No PreviewCast This Weekend

I guess I should’ve known better than to schedule an episode on Easter, but no one showed up on TalkShoe today, so we’ll just skip this weekend and have our next episode next weekend.

Have a great Easter holiday!

PreviewCast #028: Digg It

In honor of every joke shop manager’s favorite holiday, this episode breaks with tradition as we parody everyone’s favorite tech news podcast with a twist, Diggnation. Larry and Douglas select 8 of the week’s top Digg stories and consume 4 bottles of non-alcoholic Stewarts Orange & Cream each. No video though, sorry but we don’t have an IPTV company behind our backs.

Adobe Announces Creative Suite 3 (which has too many varieties), Apple’s iPhone will be released on June 11 (but it still costs too much), Charge your Cell Phone from the Air (only 3 ft of it), Full Mac OS X running on Apple TV (if you’re too cheap to pay $300 more for a Mac mini), Google’s New TISP Service (you can have your broadband and flush it too), The Pirate Bay finds permanent hosting solution (they’re just after the Princess of Sweden), Intel Mac Mini Beats the XServe G5 (thank goodness it wasn’t the Xeon Xserve), and Could this be the HORNIEST Ipod accessory out there? (Not even daring to comment on this one).

All this and more on today’s April foolish edition of Diggnatio… err, PreviewCast!
