It seems that for the past few days, there has been a weird problem with our feed in which episodes were not downloading via iTunes, and if you look on episodes #026SE and #027, this has jacked our numbers way up there. Wow.
So either we’ve now had over 2,000 downloads of PreviewCast in the last 3 days, or something is amiss. Anyway, I apologize for this, and will be taking the site down within the next hour to investigate.
Update: An updated version of podPress has been installed, and in my limited testing, it seems to have fixed the issue. If you are subscribed via the iTunes Store, it may take a little time for the fix to become apparent. If it is still not working, try unsubscribing, deleting the podcast listing, and then resubscribing via iTunes. If it still doesn’t download, leave a comment in this post.

The pizza is here, the Coca-Cola is leftover, and we’re recording PreviewCast almost live from Aragon High School in San Mateo. And…there’s only three of us. Oh well. This episode still covered a lot of great stuff, had plenty of funny moments, and we all had a great time doing this ep, as we inducted new PreviewCasters Daniel Brusilovsky and our computer lab aide, Candy Bandong.
Macworld Expo SF saw record attendance this year, thanks, in part, to the nine of us that went there. After three weeks of delays, the Apple TV is finally shipping, but is it really worth the $300? Meanwhile, Apple sends out invites to a Special Event at NAB, and an Apple Store slip-up hints at an 8-core Mac Pro. But AppleInsider is rumoring that all-new, redesigned iMacs are coming down the pipeline. Don’t want to activate Windows Vista? Microsoft built in a secret way to continually reset the activation timer. Blu-ray thinks that they’re going to replace standard DVDs within three years, which may be good if Viacom wins its lawsuit over Google/YouTube. Ms. Bandong keeps on foreseeing a proliferation of MMORPG Second Life, but we all think that that’s crazy, especially after a South Korean died playing video games. YouTube is introducing a revolutionary old information system: the book. And for our collection of reviews, Daniel reviews his ridiculously small Sony Micro Vault TINY, and Douglas reviews NewsFire. Oh, and Google better watch out, because we’re taking a field trip to the Googleplex next month!
All this and plenty more in this “virtual” episode of PreviewCast!

The episode started with Robert out of town and everyone else offline, so we set this episode up on TalkShoe so that Robert could call in on his cell phone. Unfortunately, Robert had bad reception from Cingular is now the New AT&T, so we couldn’t stop talking about it.
Daylight Savings Time is three weeks earlier this year, and GoDaddy is among many having mini-Y2K problems, and Stephen Colbert completely explains the history of AT&T and Cingular. iTunes 7.1 brings along full screen Cover Flow and Apple TV support, but still shies away from Windows Vista. The Apple TV is delayed, and although a rumor comes out about games on the device, it is quickly squashed. Apple runs a weird ad during the Oscars, and we also take a look back at one or two Oscar highlights. Adobe’s CS3 will be announced, and Apple’s iLaunch won’t be. Finally, Robert reviews his new cell phone (while he uses it), and Douglas reviews his horrible mouth positioner.
All this and more on today’s episode of PreviewCast!

That’s right. On Friday, March 23rd, I will be giving a seminar about recording and editing podcasts at Aragon High School (my school) in San Mateo, CA. Here’s what will be happening at the session:
- Pizza party before the seminar starts! (Just don’t spill on any computers.)
- I will be doing a live recording of PreviewCast #028 (number subject to change) during the seminar. All present can participate, or watch from the sidelines.
- Anyone interested can stay and watch how PreviewCast is edited, and can learn about how to use the Levelator, GarageBand, and iTunes to make podcasts sound and look almost professionally edited.
- The episode will be live on PreviewCast.com that afternoon!
March 23rd is a minimum day at Aragon, so we will be starting the event at 12:45 PM (right after school gets out), in room 138, which is the new computer lab in the South Wing. After we’re all stuffed on pizza, we’ll be starting the live recording shortly after 1 PM, which will typically run a little over an hour, depending on how much we talk. The event will probably end around 3:30 PM.
So, if you go to Aragon (I know a number of PreviewCast fans do), or are in the area, come on by and join in!
